Clancy's Commercial is a division of R. Bertelsen & Son Incorporated. Rick
Bertelsen started in the paint sales business thirty years ago, but the family
legacy began much earlier than that. Altman Bertelsen, Rick's grandfather began
his painting business in 1927. Rick's father, Eric eventually took over and Rick
worked alongside his dad learning all there is to know about painting and he too
took over the family business. Rick took his knowledge, experience and family
tradition and bought an existing paint store in London from which he built a
very successful business.
In 2002, Rick's son Eric branched out into the commercial coatings business.
He started out of the back of one of the paint stores and within a year had
outgrown that. Eric's drive and determination continued to see the business grow
and quickly outgrew two more facilities; this brought us to our current
operation. The meteoric rise and capture of market share in Southwestern Ontario
was unprecedented. Clancy's Commercial won, and continues to win many awards for
it's outstanding sales growth. Throughout this growth period, Eric continued to
hone his business skills and sales expertise. Eventually the task became to
large for one person; we now have three full-time, outside sales
representatives.
Realizing that we had the opportunity to build a different kind of commercial
business, we wanted to use our many years of retail paint sales knowledge and
give our customers a unique commercial buying experience. We wanted to offer
innovative products that were customized to our individual customer's needs.
Luckily, we already had someone that had become a master tinter. Jeremiah
Phinnemore took on the challenge of creating customized stain colours and
heading the team to invent amazing new styles of finish. The combination of
family tradition and values, combined with Eric's sales talent, drive and
determination, as well as Jeremiah's technical expertise, place Clancy's
Commercial on the leading edge of the coatings industry in Canada.
